The OrdealThis dream was not remembered complete, but there were several strong scenes. Begin: I was in a house near a forest area talking to the woman who lived there. She was pleasant, about 45, wearing a print dress, and spoke softly. I had been out in the forest for days without food and with little watre. I was grubby, my eyes were red and stinging, I was beyond hunger, dead tired, and complaining. I told her I was disgusted. I had been out there for days, was in bad shape, had nothing to show for it, and was unsure I would ever be come for if something went wrong. She replied quietly that I need not go on, that there was no shame in coming in now. "No." I replied. I said I would do this and I will go through to the end. If others have lived through it, I also will, whatever happens or doesn't. With this, I headed back into the forest. There were two sequences where people walking in the forest came upon me. In the first they approached me thinking I was in trouble, but I waved them away without speaking from where I sat. In the second, I was sitting on a ledge and they didn't pay much attention. In one brief scene, I was climbing high on a cliff with a long drop to my
left. My next move depended on a projecting rock, and I was unsure if it
was secure. I needed to go on through, dying not being a valid consideration
at this point. I tried feeling out the rock with my mind to determine the
strength of its hold, recognizing I was not well prepared for this kind of
thing. I knew also I must not recognize my weakness and tiredness or I would
be lost for sure. Only absolute concentration would get me through.
There were other dreams referring to the same type of subject matter, but I did not remember them at all. Conditions upon wakening were not conducive to resurrecting lost material. |
