Stabbing an Assailant

This night was the heavy sleep that always follows an illness, including a brief night sweat. Many, many dreams I was aware of, but I awoke with only the knowledge of them, as I was never awake enough to set them in memory.

The only remembered sequence is one where I was being physically restrained by a young man. I turned around and stabbed him in the neck with on oyster shucking knife (extremely short wide blade). He released me and stepped back, then sank to the ground, his blood pumping out like a fountain. He was still conscious moments after it was all gone. I felt I should stay with him until he was dead. He was fairly slender, but muscular, and wore a cowboy hat.
End.
