Bathroom FixturesThere were many dreams this night, but only the last was remembered. Begin: I was on the sidewalk passing an old house of more or less California bungalow style, shaded by many trees, shrubs, and other vegetation. On one side of the house was a pool of complex rectilinear shape, very elaborately done with brick edging, steps, and tile lining. Later I passed the same house, but the pool had been dug out and the debris hauled away. Earth only remained, with a musty odor. I looked closely to see if they were going to rebuild the pool. Seeing some pool equipment about, I presumed they were, and speculated on what style it might be built in. The dream moved into a review of possibilities in bathroom fixtures, tubs, shower stalls, toilets, bidets, sinks, etc. including how they might be installed. The designs and installations I reviewed were highly imaginative, brightly colored, and obviously only for the very wealthy who could afford custom fixtures and custom installation. All the installations were of a very free-form style, with the very best tile and fittings. Plenty of room was also a prerequisite. All this was set up as though full installed in an expensive showroom, except our waking world just hasn't anything to compare. End. As I organized the record of this dream in 1983, scenes occurred to me from long past dreams in gymnasium type settings. Shower rooms and swimming pools and bathroom facilities of various degrees of primitiveness. I gather such dreams have been very common from the number if images that swam into my view. At the time I originally set down the record of this dream (1980), images of other dreams occurred. The date of their occurrence is uncertain, but this one in particular appeared. Begin: In the awake world it had begun to rain, and the noise of water on a board was translated in the dream to a creaking of wood floors. In the dream world I was asleep, and this creaking awakened me. I had just moved into a new house, and was sleeping there for the first time. The place was largely empty; a small two story building which faced a common parking area, shared by several similar buildings. My vehicle was the XK120 Jaguar, but it was in some other town for bodywork. I needed a ride there to bring it back, and had been trying to figure out the logistics, especially if I should let Lee (Winters) drive it back or if she might run into difficulties. I awakened slowly from this dream and stayed a while between worlds. From this vantage I was reviewing my situation in my awake world, comparing every phase of my life here with the equivalent situation in this dream world. Everything was different; house, location, cars, job, friends, and all. I really appreciated my present situation when I finally did wake up completely. I was relieved to find a lot of inconveniences didn't exist here that I would have had to work out in the dream world. Nonetheless, the situation there was very credible. I could have been there if my choices had been only a little different. End. |
