The Fantasy Park

There were long sequences before the point where I have started this dream record, but they were too far back and too poorly remembered for me to visualize upon waking.

I was riding in a car with two or three other men. We had turned onto a narrow concrete bridge serving as the off ramp from a major street or highway. It was narrow with rails on both sides and sidewalks just inside the rails. Traffic was moving in both directions and we were moving slowly. Ahead, an attractive young lady made her way onto the road when traffic permitted, picked up what appeared to be a man's leg, fully clothed, and continued across. Someone in the car commented that we might offer her a ride, except for the leg, and that we were not going far.

We soon arrived at our destination, a fantasy park, but a lot different from Disneyland. It was quite small, and everything was simple but colorful. I joined a group consisting mostly of children of about 4, and a few adults. The group was starting up a path to a little bridge. A guide lead the group and started explaining things that could be seen and how they related to various nursery rhymes and children's stories.

I decided this was a little elementary for me and left the group, continuing along an asphalt pathway wrapping around a green lawn. In the lawn were twisting narrow paths, sort of like an labyrinth. These paths were divided into squares like the paths on a game board. Many of the squares were just brightly colored, but some has brightly painted designs on them.

I wandered into the labyrinth, looking at the squares. Somewhere near the center, just a few squares from the end of the path I was on, were a square painted with a tentacled purple monster, and another with a green scaled dragon. Somehow it came to me that one of my companions from the car must face these monsters. He was not too far away, so I brought him over and he agreed to do what was necessary. He stood at the very end of the path, just a little off it on the grass, and held a sword in his right hand. I stood on the path.

The monsters needed now to be congered up. This was done by looking at the squares where they were painted for a moment to set their images, then imagining them full size out on the grass beyond the end of the path. I believe we both worked on getting them to appear.

Both of the monsters materialized at the same time, and although they were still slightly transparent, my companion dropped his sword and stood terrified. Realizing he wasn't going to fight, I picked up the sword and started to fight them myself, swinging at the purple tentacles and green scaly dragon. While fighting, I found it was also necessary to keep imagining them to keep them from fading away.

I used the sword in my right hand and stabbed with a pair of scissors in my left hand. Where I got those I haven't the foggiest. The purple monster was pretty much chopped up soon, but the dragon remained unscathed because of his quickness and hard scales. I finally fell to the ground and let him jump over me, stabbing forward on his body to work the sword between the layers of scales.

Lapse:   I was lying in a ravine of clay and rocks with very sparse vegetation, as though I had just awakened. Several people came upon me and started to help me up, but before getting up, I scraped around in some stones and clay formations next to me. I picked up little crystals shaped like hexagonal columns set together in little bundles. These I knew were the dragon's teeth, and would be diamonds. I put as many as I could fit into a little cloth bag to use later. Apparently the dragon had become fossilized, buried in clay, and was washed out when the ravine was formed. I seemed to have been washed out with him somehow, from right where we had fallen in the fight, but I had remained unchanged.

Lapse:   The next remembered scene was at some docks. I had the little bag with some of the dragon teeth with me. There was a huge open barge, all rusty, with some people in it at the dock. It was going to (Japan?), but I don't know from where - it couldn't have been far. Apparently this was a cheap way to get to somewhere I wanted to go, and I was thinking of going aboard. The barge moved away from the dock a ways, and someone pushed me off into the water, which was shallow and reasonably warm. the situation did not seem serious, I think I was pushed as a joke, and I think I still had my little bag.

Fade.
