The Fire Alarm

There were earlier sequences to this dream in various parts of the same building, but they were not remembered sufficiently to record.

Begin:   I was in a very large building complex under construction, somewhere in it's lower reaches. This portion of the building had been completed to the point of having lights, but had not yet been cleaned up for occupancy. I was a man of about 40, 6 foot and 200 pounds, dressed in a dark gray business suit. There was a man sitting on a stool a little to my left and behind me, who may have been my companion or may have been a guard watching me.

In front of me, about 10 feet away, were three men sitting in a row on cushions, the most important in the center. There were a number of other persons in their party, standing around in the room. The three before me were sitting very formally, legs crossed in front of them, but I do not believe they were dressed in Indian style cloths.

These persons were talking to me, and for each statement they made, I responded with some joke or ridicule. I thought my statements quite funny. At one point I addressed the man in the center with the words, "Listen, if this is a trial, why don't we have a lawyer, or at least a theologian?".

I do not remember the response, but at this moment I realized the double door to my right was not watched. I was not desperate to escape, but decided it would be the easiest solution. I dove through the doors, turned right, and ran down the hall about 50 to 60 feet to where steps led upwards on my left to double doors. As I neared the steps I looked back to find a pursuer had been sent after me.

I quickly decided to meet him in the hall rather than risk him catching me from behind if the doors didn't open quickly enough. It turned out he could run with superhuman speed and would have. He appeared to be about 35, 5 foot 10, 180 pounds, with a goatee and small mustache.

From this point there were two endings.

A.   For some reason the punch I threw did not connect solidly and my adversary got around me, grabbed me from behind, and pulled down my collar. I knew he was about to inject something into the back of my neck to paralyze me. I yelled "No!", but couldn't shake him loose. At this point the dream flashed back for the alternate ending.

B.   The reason the punch didn't connect solidly is my hand was holding a knife, which I left plunged deep into the chest of my adversary. This did not stop him and he got around me, pulled down my collar and injected his drug with some tiny one-shot device that sprayed it through the skin under high pressure. At this point he realized he had been stabbed and fell to the floor.

Loosing consciousness, I used my last strength to stagger to the wall and pull down the lever of a fire alarm box, shattering the glass rod that blocked the lever. It was marked "Fire Zone 32". As I fell, my last thoughts were of how to avoid being arrested for killing my adversary, but figured I could use a self defense plea.

There were brief images of being surrounded by workers. Also a few persons from the room, but they could do nothing with all the regular people there. There was a brief image of awakening in a hospital. These images were superimposed over the process of waking up.

End.
