This method is for use in recipes, such as Danish beef patties, if you don't have the real Pickled Beets on hand. Dice fine for beef patties, for other uses you may want matchsticks or another shape.

Butter, salted
Vinegar, Cider
Sea Salt
Sugar (1)

Make   -   (30 min)
  1. Peel BEET and dice very fine. Peel ONION and dice very fine. Mix.
  2. Melt Butter in a sauce pan and fry Beet mix stirring until onions are translucent, but no browning (about 5 minutes)
  3. Stir in Vinegar, Salt and Sugar. Reduce over moderately high flame until syrupy.
  4. Cool.
NOTES:
  1. Sugar:

      Scandinavians are way more into sugar than I am, so I have cut the amount in half. Use an amount to your own taste.
  2. U.S. measure: t=teaspoon, T=Tablespoon, c=cup, qt=quart, oz=ounce, #=pound, cl=clove in=inch, ar=as required tt=to taste
