The Wrist Slasher - 12-04-1982

Two dreams (#52 & #53) were remembered on this morning. Both were violent. I have no explanation for this, Although there were disruptions to my usual routines during the week, they did not have a violent content. This one is #53.

Begin:   This dream opened in a fairly full parking lot. A young woman friend and a couple of other people were walking on the left side of the entrance driveway just after it came off the street. She was approached by a man of about 30 who stopped her and started handling her body. Rather than separate them, I distracted him, getting him upset with me. He came after me into a small store, which I may have owned or worked in.

Smiling all the time he announced his intention to kill me, and displayed a regular Stanley knife blade in his right hand. He grasped it with his fingers in such a way that he could grab my left wrist with his right hand and rotate his hand around in such a way as to slash my wrist, while he fended off my defense with his left hand. He seemed quite proud of this technique.

The blade cut me but his grip was not quite right and the cut was not deep enough to do serious damage. I was now prepared for his attack, having a good grip on a hatchet. I struck at his arms. His right arm, grasping my wrist, I seriously damaged, and I nearly severed his left arm at the elbow. While I bled lightly from the slash on my wrist, he bled profusely from his wounds. He did not stop smiling, and he did not back off in his attack, despite being cut apart.

Fadeout.

This dream differs significantly from dreams of the past where I was attacked or pursued by invulnerable, unkillable beings. This person was definitely incapacitated to the extent I had damaged him, but would not give up and seemed able to withstand considerable loss of blood. My next plan was to go for his legs, so I could back away from him as he fell, but I awoke before I could pursue this course. He seemed totally insane, willing to take serious, even fatal, damage rather than back off.
