The Hallway

Begin:   I was with others, in what seemed to be a wide hallway of some large structure, but I looked only at the wall on my right, and it could have been open on my left. Somehow I think it was. The floors were carpeted in a medium brown, and the walls were painted beige with dark brown trim. Everything was clean, and the lighting was good. People were moving along in both directions, but I turned off alone into a small hallway at right angles to the main one. It was about 12 feet wide and sloped distinctly upward. I entered it with some feeling of adventure, and wa confident of my ability to take care of myself.

Immediately I was met by a man shaped figure of total blackness moving as though floating. This figure rushed down upon me and there were brilliant flashes like bight red lightening directed at me. I held firm and my power did not fail me, but maintained a resilient sphere of resistance around me. On the other hand, I could not make any progress forward.

After only a few seconds of this conflict, a new thought occurred to me, and with a feeling of good will I reached out my hand to the blackness and let my defenses open. The black figure immediately reached toward my hand. A white sphere, about three inches in diameter, flashed briefly between our hands. A feeling of absorption followed, then a floating feeling, a feeling of having no distinct body, and a feeling of opening.

I was quickly drawn up the hallway and ejected into a vast space. In the bottom of this space was a huge hemisphere of brilliance, like a cushion of white light. I fell quickly into this brilliance, but was neither absorbed nor did I penetrate far. Rather I found it springy and resilient. I rested against it for a few moments, bathed and interpenetrated by the brilliant white radiance, and woke up.

End.

I wondered if I had handled this situation correctly. Should I have found a mental or emotional attitude that would have caused me to be absorbed by the luminescence during those few moments? I do not know.
