The Pomegranate Tree

Begin:   I was on the coast, the ocean to my right, a beach followed by a broken area and cliffs behind to my left. There was shipping activity on the water, and people were on the beach.

Lapse:   I was inside a building, very spacious but somewhat cluttered. Others were about, but they left. I was sitting on the steps between two levels, putting my magic equipment in order, primarily by making a new wand out of wood. I had an old wooden one I no longer used, and a hollow glass one I had used recently for some purpose, but it was too delicate for most (I tend to use my wand to beat my drum in ceremonies). An attractive young woman came over to me. We were obviously on very friendly terms, but the relationship seemed quite new. She understood what I wa doing and what it was for.

Lapse:   I was walking on a path in a semi desert area with interesting plants growing to my left. There may have been a building to my right, but that area is a blank. The path turned to the right, but just before it did, a walkway joined it at right angles from the left. This was a raised wooden walkway of redwood boards, and from it I saw other similar walkways. I was attracted to it and followed it into a very lush little valley with many kinds of shrubs and a few trees. Continuing, I came to a little hexagonal deck, raised like the walkways.

In the center of the deck was an opening through which grew a small shrubby tree I recognized as a pomegranate tree. It was out of leaf, but alive and with many buds. There was also a strong female presence, but not materialized. I trimmed a few branches of the pomegranate so It would be a better shape when it leafed out and bloomed. I was not satisfied with the work, feeling I would have to trim it other times before it would be right, but I was ready to leave on another path for now.

End.

This little place with the pomegranate tree had the distinct feeling of home, of the place from which departures were made and to which I would return. I was sure I would be back to tend the tree again until it was perfect. I was conscious of also being the disembodied female presence as well as being myself. I suppose I could have left as either, the disembodied aspect remaining there.

Whenever I review this dream it brings the distinct impression of doves, regular beige ones. I may have encountered them, perhaps in a cage, somewhere near the juncture of the paths. That is where the impression resides, anyway. It may be from another dream this one is calling up.
