This dream was recorded in January 1975, but was well remembered at that time, and had been reviewed frequently.

Thrown Knife

I was driving very slowly through an older residential district in an open car (XK-120 Jaguar roadster?). The houses lining the street were small older single family residences with short front yards. These houses had been built for people of moderate income when new, and appeared to be occupied by people of the lower middle or upper lower class.

In front of one of the houses was a group of youths, just standing around. The yard was surrounded by a short picket or decorative wire fence painted white. As I drove by, one of the youths threw a knife at me for no apparent reason. He did this in an inattentive way, seemingly without real effort to actually hit me. The knife hit me point first in the side of the neck. I stopped the car a couple of houses farther along the street and thought that I would probably die now. I wondered if maybe I could turn time back and go through the whole sequence again, except not get hit.
