Rock Climb

In the first remembered scene, I was with two teenage girls. We had decided to climb the nearby hill to enjoy the view from the top. The climb was steep, kind of a rutted dirt path straight up the hill. I was clearly quite a bit older than the girls, but I noted that I was making the climb well enough.

Then, there was a big rock blocking the path. The girls were no longer present, they may have climbed the rock and gone ahead, or simply disappeared. The rock had many blocks of thick particle board glued to it as an aid to climbing. These were not in good shape, but would have held the girls well enough. As I attempted to climb, with my much heavier weight, they disintegrated under my feet and broke apart in my hands.

I had managed to climb part way up the rock, but saw it was more jagged ahead and the blocks were still breaking up when I tried to pull myself up. I also noted that just to my left was about a 1000 foot drop straight down, so I couldn't afford to slip in that direction. I was seriously contemplating working my way back down to the ground (presuming the ground was still there in the changing dreamscape) and abandoning the climb. This is when I slowly became awake and rehearsed the dream for writing it here.

This was yet another dream with a strong amount of frustration, one of the most common themes in my dreams. Why, I do not know.
