05-29-2019 was a very active night for dreams, due to my being partially awake several times. Some of this "partially awake" may also have been dream time as well - it wouldn't be the first time I've been fooled that way. There were several other dreams that just left vague fragments, which will still probably influence my waking life and have to be identified as dream stuff. From the first sleep, about 5 hours, the segments between confirmed partially awake periods were roughly an hour long.

Wrecked House

At the opening of this dream,I have just returned to my home, the one I actually live in, in the same shape and form as the waking one. I knew there was trouble. I noticed the garage door was closed, which it normally is not. I was sure it was to hide the murdered body of my mother (1).

Entering the house, it was a wreck, with broken windows, torn up walls and ceilings, all its contents piled about on the floors, drawers pulled out, etc.

A survey outside showed holes dug in the ground and more wreckage. There had been a temporary covering over the bedroom roof to prevent rain damage (2). This had been pulled down over the back porch, and one layer partially removed.

It was my thinking that most of this was the perpetrator trying to find and destroy any evidence of his name. I knew I had heard his name, but could not remember it - I'm really bad at remembering names when fully awake, too.

I wanted to call in the Police, but, of course, the phone lines were cut. I was inside the house again, and holding a hand gun, in case the perpetrator returned or was still concealed on the property (3).

(1)   My mother did do some business work for me at my home a few times, but that was at least 25 years ago, and she died in 2004. That casts the time period in doubt, but dreams don't pay much attention to details like that anyway.

(2)   The bedroom roof does have a small leak, and needs to be fixed (well, actually, the whole house needs a new roof), but it has never had a covering put over it.

(3)   While the house does contain a handgun, and in a location the perpetrator would be unlikely to find it, holding the hand gun may have been interference from just starting to become partially awake. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure it was not the hand gun of my waking world.

College Again #1

These are scenes in a college building - but might be fragments from the previous night, newly available.

A woman was with me, and we went up the stairs to the second floor of a college building. There were no other people - apparently this was a vacation day. We wanted to investigate something, but what we needed was in a usually locked cabinet at the end of the hall. Surprisingly, it had been left unlocked, and we found the things we needed. I have no recollection of what those things were.

We also needed a classroom, and to our surprise, the nearest one had also been left unlocked. This is where the dream fades out.

College Again #2

I was in a college building, on the ground floor, talking to a young woman. We decided to go to lunch, so we went out to the parking lot to find my car (the white Volvo wagon I currently drive). We searched the lot, which had only a few cars in it, but did not find the Volvo.

I turned to her and told here, "We are in a dream. This always happens to me in dreams." She smiled, and we walked away. The college had disappeared and we were on a country road, some homes to the right, an embankment with trees and shrubs on the left. This is where the dream faded out.

Fragments

There are many vaguely remembered fragments of streets with restaurants and bars of various kinds, and being in some of them, but these may be coming in from a whole lot of other nights.

When awake, I often realize that memories I'm including in my thoughts are actually fragments from dreams, and I should act on them only with that understanding.
