These dreams were recorded on 180601, because there was no time on 180531, but they were rehearsed several times during the day to keep them in memory. Exodus was at the end of my main sleeping period, Returning was later.

Exodus

In this dream a large tribe of people were on the move to escape another tribe that was no more than a day behind. The landscape was dry and barren, but with a river blocking the way. I thought similar to Jews in exodus, but they were not dressed that way, the men wore pants with belts. In this dream I was an observer, not a participant.

The river was wide and moving fairly fast, but was only a little more than waist deep. The largest, strongest man took the end of a long rope and struggled his way across the river. The other men took the other end of the rope and fed it through their belts so they were all linked together, and as they did this, they went into the river until there was a row of men all the way across, with both ends of the rope secured to rocks.

Now the men could pass bags and packages of supplies across from man to man, and also pass across weaker people and children. Once this was done, one of the strongest men stayed on the near side and the rope was unfastened at the far side, but held tightly. One by one men strung on it walked off the free end. Finally, the last man unfastened the near end and was pulled across the river.

Not far ahead was another river, but a much smaller one. It was handled the same way but more easily.

Returning

I was in bed but partially awake at around 4:30 am. I always wait to get up when there is daylight, which would start at about 5:30 but not be strong until 6:00. As usual, I stayed in a state of part awake and part asleep, waiting for the light to be strong enough to get up.

The light became strong enough. As often happens, right at this time, instead of getting up I fall heavily back into sleep and do not wake again for an hour or a bit longer. This seems to be a prime dream time.

Only parts of this dream are remembered. As often in these dreams, I'm looking for my car and not finding it. I'm looking in a parking lot near a large auto repair shop. I do see an XK120 Jaguar roadster (I had one of these in the distant past, but this one seemed to be right hand drive), and I had a key which fit the ignition lock and started the engine with a bit of jiggling and forcing (not unusual for an English lock of that period).

I had a woman companion in the other seat, but I have no idea what she looked like or what our relationship might be. We were driving along a narrow street. To the left was a high embankment, at the top was a main street lined with shops, parallel to the one we were on. There were trees to the right and there may have been a river behind them. This scene seemed strangely familiar, but different, and I couldn't place why it seemed so familiar.

Going through a narrow point, another car was coming the other way, but stopped and backed off a bit so we could get through. Eventually we turned left up a side street to the main street, but nothing further of this scene is remembered.

In the next remembered scene I am on the patio of a café. There are a lot of people talking, and a lot of colorful artwork of many kinds on display. One woman was setting out a large construction of colorfully glazed ceramic tiles, making a sort of basin which looked like a person could lie in it.

She asked me, "Why do you want to go back?". I told her, "It's where I came from. They are my people. That's were I belong".

Immediately at the end of this statement, I woke up, fairly quickly, to a world that seemed very empty compared to the one I had just left.
